“‘What is writ by hand we reverence more’: Manuscript and Print Culture in early modern England”

Professor Beal, who is the co-editor of English Manuscript Studies 1100-1700 and is the author of In Praise of Scribes: Manuscripts and their Makers in Seventeenth-Century England, is completing work on a database Catalogue of English Literary Manuscripts, which is to be an open-access resource based in his earlier Index of English Literary Manuscripts.

Professor Iopollo is the author of Revising Shakespeare and Dramatists and their Manuscripts in the Age of Shakespeare, Jonson, and Middleton: Authorship, Authority and the Playhouse as well as the co-editor of Elizabeth I and the Culture of Writing. She is currently working on a critical study of the Dulwich College manuscript of Philip Henslowe’s Diary, the source of rich information about the early modern English theater.
